Project Ouadi Rime Ouadi Achim
Story
The Ouadi Rimé–Ouadi Achim, covers three habitats of Sahelian wooded grassland, sub-desert grassland (covers about 66% of the area), and desert, and is one of the largest reserves in Chad. Its terrain with an elevation range of 180–250 meters (590–820 ft) has no prominent features except for an isolated patch of a remnant of volcanic eruption. It has a long dune cordon called the Goz Kerky that runs through the reserve in a north–south direction. Main problem this faunal reserve is facing is the lack of manpower and their training (eco- guards or rangers) that will patrol this area and stop poaching and other malicious actions from happening. POROA needs to select, train and equip a new set of guards that will do this job. Many species are in danger including : Gazella dama (EN, few), Gazella dorcas (VU) and Gazella rufifrons (VU). In addition, Addax nasomaculatus (VU) Oryx dammah (EW) We are raising funds for a new BFR (BASIC FIELD RANGER) course, and also to refresh the knowledge of the old ranger force already present in the park.

FAQ
What does anti-poaching mean?
However, it is generally used to describe an overall effort against the illegal wildlife trade. The act of anti-poaching is normally carried out by national parks on public land and by private security companies on privately owned land. Anti-poaching takes many forms and which depends mainly upon the habitat being protected. Typically, it is the act of actively patrolling land in an effort to prevent poachers from reaching the animals.
How big is the area POROA is protecting ?
The Ouadi Rimé–Ouadi Achim Faunal Reserve, one of the largest protected areas in Africa, It covers the area roughly two times bigger than Belgium (90.000 km2)
